Get Your Braces Ready for the Holidays!

Are your braces ready for the holidays?

The holidays are fast approaching, and with them come festive decorations, traveling and good food. This time of year is a favorite for many, and being able to express yourself with your braces can be a fun part of getting into the holiday spirit. Braces have changed for the better in recent years and are much more customizable. What better time to show off your individualism than when celebrating your favorite holidays?

Change the Band Colors on Your Braces

While you have your braces on, they are an extension of you. They can represent who you are. Changing the colored bands on your brackets allows you to not only show off your favorite color but also show off your festive spirit. The rubber bands that fit around your braces to keep your wires attached come in many different colors and can be mixed and matched to represent any holiday you want.

It’s football season this time of year too, so represent your team with your braces. You can change the colors of your braces to the colors of your favorite team. Charleston Orthodontic Specialists is also a provider of the South Carolina Gamecocks and Clemson Tiger Mascot Braces. These designs show off the different mascots on the brackets of the braces and allow you to have a more permanent representation of your team spirit.

Be Careful with What You Eat

The holidays also often center around eating, and while you might be used to eating whatever you want, you will have to be careful with your braces. You’ll need to make sure everything you eat is safe for your braces. Remember, anything sticky or gummy is dangerous since the food can get stuck in between your wires and brackets. Soft foods like mashed potatoes are okay but steer clear of marshmallows or other super sugary desserts. Crunchy and crispy foods, like peanut brittle, can also cause problems with your braces. You don’t want to break your brackets or loosen your wires over the holidays!

Be sure to brush your teeth after every meal or snack. This is the best way to avoid causing any dental hygiene issues like cavities. Cleaning your teeth allows your brackets and wires to continue straightening your teeth the way they’re supposed to while you’re enjoying the season.

Don’t forget to see your orthodontist before the holidays so you can decorate your braces with festive colors! Call us at (843) 4-BRACES to schedule an appointment today.
